According to Atlanta's 11 Alive News, rapper Rick Ross was named in a federal indictment they recently obtained. The indictment states that the Miami-based musician was in fact threatened by four alleged members of the Gangster Disciples, on video.
In the video, which was uploaded to YouTube, they threatened Ross with physical harm, and added that the rapper can no longer perform in states where the gang has ties until he pays up and “turns those checks in.”
Earlier reports of the video threat stated that the Gangster Disciples were upset with Ross' use of a six-point star, which serves as the gang's symbol, on the cover of his The Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape.
Around the time of the threat, Ross canceled his Maybach Music Group Tour. A shooting at the rapper's Chicago studio also took place. It is unclear if either of the two events are linked to the gang's threats.
A statement released following the cancellation of Ross' tour in 2012 cited an “apparent lack of organization and communication on the part of the tour promoter" as the reason why the tour was abruptly ended.
Several of the gang members named in the indictment, which mentions Rick Ross, faced a Georgia judge yesterday (May 9). Among those who appeared in court was a Dekalb County Police Officer who allegedly served as hitman for the Disciples.
