Diddy Is Retiring From Music to Focus on Films

Diddy is packing up his microphone for good as the rapper is giving up his music career to focus his energy towards films. Puff will step away from music following the release of his upcoming album No Way Out 2. The Bad Boy Records founder is on the laters cover of Cigar Aficionado and told the publication that he plans to dedicate “100 percent of his time” to making films.
“I want to stop at a great place. And a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it once last time.”
Diddy has been getting steady work as an actor since his standout role as Sergio in the 2010 flick Get Him to the Greek. Now that he’s been making music professionally for over two decades, the mogul is starting to think about his legacy as an artist and the impact his music will have when he’s gone.
“When I’m gone, only the songs will survive. I know I’m making music that will live on. I don’t go into the studio just to be hot or to hear myself on the radio,” Diddy said. “Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie — part of them lives on in their music, even though they’re not here anymore. That’s really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion.”
Last fall, Puffy signed a two-album distribution deal with Epic Records and dropped Money Makin Mitch in November.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than to gift my fans with MMM for free today,” Diddy said on release day. “MMM is a thank you to my fans and is just the beginning, a prelude to what will be my final album, No Way Out 2.”
Back in 2003, Jay Z declared his retirement with The Black Album. This, of course, proved to be bullshit as Hov has released five albums ever since. Could Diddy be taking a similar strategy to build hype and drive sales for No Way Out 2?
