New Music Releases for May 2016

As the seasons change, it’s looking like we’re in for a pretty lit ass summer. Drake has already set the tone with Afrobeat-infused jams like “One Dance,” “Controlla” and “Too Good.” Now, with the weather heating up, artists are dropping just in time to be added to your BBQ and rooftop party playlists.
The Alchemist and Mobb Deep’s Havoc have been supplying bangers for years and have once again teamed up for their upcoming collab The Silent Partner. Digging in the crates of hip-hop history, Alc supplies Havoc with classic beats and switch ups for what’s already being called a “modern day hip-hop classic”. Based on the two singles already released from the project, “Buck 50’s and Bullet Wounds” featuring Method Man and “Maintain (F*ck How You Feel),” this LP is for the streets.
Though his career blossomed on SoundCloud, Montreal producer Kaytranada has become the go-to beatsmith for rappers who want to sound like the future. Now, Kaytra will make his full introduction with his debut album 99.9%. Features like Anderson .Paak, The Internet’s Syd Tha Kyd and former XXL Freshman GoldLink and positive early reviews ensure that 99.9% will be an eclectic bouquet of trance-inducing vibes.
British grime star Skepta has been the “Man” across the pond for years. And while Skeppy’s tracklist is strangely missing Drake, one of his biggest co-signers, the Tottenham-hailing MC has rounded up A$AP Nast, D Double, Pharrell Williams and more for the debut LP. Check out these and all the other dope releases slated for a May release.
