Kanye West’s 2013 Paparazzi Battery Charge Expunged
Kanye West seems to have done away with the always rude Kanye, spaz in the news Kanye, and the record that that version of himself earned looks to be going away as well. TMZ is reporting, that based on documents they’ve obtained, a judge has signed off on erasing Kanye’s conviction for assaulting a member of the paparazzi at LAX a few years back.
Stemming from a 2013 incident, Kanye had pled no contest to misdemeanor battery, agreeing to 24 months of informal probation, 24 private anger management therapy sessions and 250 hours of community service. Having completed all of these requirements without further incident, Kanye’s request to expunge the case has been granted.
In the years since that run-in, Kanye has done more than turn a new leaf, he’s completely changed his stance on the camera-wielding press, appearing to embrace their constant presence and going so far as to credit them for helping his celebrity. Back in March, he said of the paparazzi, “I really appreciate you guys. Cause you guys keep me alive. You the paparazzi you keep me alive. Cause you keep me relevant. They can’t stop my voice. They can say what they want on the news channel, but I can just talk directly to you, [have] it go up and my voice not be stopped.” A week later, he was seen catching a ride with the paps after leaving the gym.
Kanye has transformed into a family man in recent years, a cooler head perhaps a product of becoming a father. While he’s nicer and friendlier to the paparazzi, let’s hope he continues to go in over beats and stays on his Odell Beckham.
