Arguably some of the most famous opening lines in any rap song ever came from Eminem‘s “Lose Yourself.” Used in his 2002 film 8 Mile, Marshall
famously rapped “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy /
There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti,” bars that have
been recited over and over over the last 14 years. Em finally decided to
make money off of the well-known verse by printing up t-shirts for sale
in honor of Mother’s Day.
The shirts are on sale on Marshall’s website
for a limited time only. “Show Mom you appreciate her in style this
Mother’s Day and pick up our ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ collab with Unfortunate
Portrait,” reads the site. “You only get one shot, do not miss your
opportunity…because this is only available for three days. Vomit not
included.”
Eminem and his mother, Debbie Nelson-Mathers, have had a contentious
relationship that Em has rapped about on wax throughout his career.
On early songs like “My Mom,” “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” “My Name Is” and
many more, the Detroit rapper painted his mother as a pill-popping,
neglectful parent. The songs led to a 2001 $11 million defamation
lawsuit filed by Debbie against her son. She ultimately settled for
$25,000 but walked away with under $2 grand after lawyer fees. In 2007,
she wrote a memoir called My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.
In 2013, Em released “Headlights” where he apologized to his mother for insulting her. In 2014, she told MLive.com that
she is open to reconciling with the superstar rapper. “I just want to
give him a big hug,” she said in a statement. “Mama is waiting with open
arms.”
