Jay Z's Appearance On "Pop Style" Can Be Seen As Frustrating, Drake Says
Drake says his VIEWS album features "some harsh truth."
During an interview with Zane Lowe, Drake offered some insight into his newly-released album, VIEWS. Unlike his approach to past projects, the Canadian singer/rapper says he was able to focus on what he's going through rather than focusing on the feelings of others.
Although he revealed that he never set out to be malicious, there is "some harsh truth" on the album.
"This album, I'm very proud to say is just--I feel like I told everybody how I'm actually feeling," Drake said. "Not what this person's going through and this person's going through, that affects me. This is more like 'This is where I'm at.' And I was really, really--it takes a lot to get that clear. That's a tough thing to access...I never set out with malicious intentions. I'm just a very honest person. I can't write fiction...It all has to deal directly with me or else I can't make the music...There's some harsh truth on this album."
Drake also touched on the non-album version of "Pop Style," which boasts a slight, The Throne reunion (the song features only two bars from Jay Z). He explained how some can see Hov's addition to the song as "frustrating."
"Jay didn't really do a verse," he said. "Really I just was trying to get 'Ye on it at first. And 'Ye just sent it to me like that. Like 'Yo, Jay kinda just did my first few lines for me. And he was just here. And that's how we flexed it.' It was cool. And he was all excited about 'Yo, just put The Throne on it. It'll be a crazy moment.' I mean, of course people wanna hear Jay Z rap. So, hearing him do two lines might be frustrating to a certain audience."
As both a friend and neighbor to Kanye, Drake revealed that the two artists "have a few things" they've worked on. He explained that whether or not their collabs will be released depends on if they're able to find a place for them.
“We live up the street from each other," the rapper said. "So, on any given night I've been in my room, just came from training, working out and they've come to my room ''Ye's in the kitchen with your mom. He says he's here to work.' Or vice versa. I’ll pull up at his house and just see what he’s doing. And he's always in there going crazy with somebody, some vibes. We’ll just sit and collaborate, that’s what music is all about. We have a few things that we've worked on. It's always just about finding a place for it...We were supposed to do a mixtape together or an album together."

Iggy Azalea Saves Nick Young From Getting “Born Reble” Tattooed on His Back
Looking for a sign that all is well in Iggy Azalea and
Nick Young’s engagement? How about a story Iggy shared on Twitter
Wednesday night (April 27) explaining how she saved the Los Angeles
Lakers guard from a serious tattoo fail.
“Guys, I wanna let you know. Nick can’t spell and if it wasn’t for the LOVE I have for him. He would have ‘BORN REBLE’ tatted across his back,” the Aussie rapper tweeted. “I came n half way thru his tattoo and notice ‘BORN REBEL’ looked different to the way I remember it.” Azalea than says that she was going to be petty and not say anything, but her better conscience prevailed.
There was a suspicion that the two lovebirds were on rocky waters after Iggy was spotted without the 8.15 carat yellow diamond engagement ring Young had given her. Iggy had said on multiple occasions that their relationship was fine following a leaked video of Young talking about his pursuit of other women, and requested that interviewers refrain from asking about her personal life moving forward.
While correct spelling isn’t necessarily a main tenant of being a born rebel, it was nonetheless sweet of Iggy to play editor and back savior. What is true love anyway if not saving your significant other from making permanent mistakes? Check out Iggy’s tweets below. Her upcoming album Digital Distortion is expected to drop this summer.

Watch Eminem and D12 Rip a 25-Minute Freestyle From 2004
Along with loosies and random Napster freestyles, the Shady Records crew would bust rhymes on radio at any opportune moment and in honor of Throwback Thursday, U.K. DJ Tim Westwood released the full version of a 2004 radio appearance from Eminem, members of D12, Stat Quo and Green Lantern.
As Green spins beats like Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” Young Buck’s “Shorty Wanna Ride,” Lloyd Banks’ “Bangers,” The Lox’s “Fuck You,” Trillville’s “Get On My Level” and Fat Joe’s “Lifestyle,” the crew go off the dome for 25 minutes. Em was on his promo run for Encore at the time, an album that sold over 700,000 copies and hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Stick around for the end as they really let loose on “Get On My Level” to close out the segment.
10 Rappers Performing Cover Songs You Need to Hear
Life as a high-profile entertainer looks fulfilling from the outside,
but at the heart of it all, your favorite rapper is a human being
influenced by the world around them. With all the glitz and the glamor,
the money, the fame, people waiting at arm’s length to do whatever is
commanded of them and the supporters, it’s often easy to forget that
they’re big fans of other artists as well.
Every now and again, fans get to witness a rapper pay homage to someone they look up to or cherish. Occasionally, artists perform a cover of a song that really made an impact on their life. As a fan, that’s an incredible moment to see. Just a few weeks ago, during the first weekend of Coachella 2016 in Indio, Calif., rising rhymer Post Malone performed a cover of Nirvana’s 1992 hit song “Lithium,” off their influential album Nevermind. The Dallas native decided to grab a guitar for the moment and rock out in true Kurt Cobain fashion.
Rappers who are genuine fans of other artists (whether current or past) are never afraid to display their appreciation. Kanye West has surprised his legion of supporters by covering a surprising rock ode while Drake took a shot at performing one of ‘Ye’s Yeezus tracks. Plus there’s many more hip-hop staples that have tried their hand at living up to fellow artists’ original songs. Check out 10 Rappers Performing Cover Songs You Need to Hear.

'Yewokrom' Track Not Original - Wisa Gried Jabs Atom
Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominee, Wisa Greid has accused
fellow hiplife Artiste, Atom of copying ‘Telemo song’ beat to programe
‘yewokrom’ which makes the song a mix tape and not original.
He said this renders the song undeserving of any Award.
According to Wisa, he deserves the Most popular song of the year as well as the New Artiste of the year because his song ‘Ekiki me’ is original and was well produced.
Wisa has been nominated in four categories during this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards being, New Artiste of the year, Hiplife song of the year, Best collaboration of the year and Most popular song of the year.
He was speaking in an interview with Kasapa Fm’s Court correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman after his court proceedings at the Accra circuit court.
Wisa Gried is standing trial for gross indecent exposure, a charge he has plead not guilty to.
He did probably the weirdest act by a Ghanaian performing artist when midway through his performance at the December 2 Remember concert last year, he pulled out his manhood on stage and thrusted it behind a lady dancer.
His lawyer Jerry Avenorgbor, has stated that the musician displayed a fake penis on stage while performing at the event. He argued that what the artiste did was for the “beauty of entertainment” but the public failed to appreciate that.
Wisa’s disgraceful act was greeted with public condemnation by a large section of the citizenry who were utterly shocked by his actions. He, as well as his management team immediately apologized to Ghanaians for his indecent behaviour.
The ‘Ekiki me’ hit singer was arrested by the police and questioned for showing his penis at the event, following which he was later granted bail.

Ghana to celebrate World Dance Day with Azonto
On April 29 2016, Ghana will join over 200 countries worldwide to celebrate dance as a creative arts discipline.
While the world takes on different dance forms as pertaining within their region to celebrate this year’s day, Ghana and Ghanaians all around the world are encouraged to dance Azonto.

Affiliated to UNESCO and based in Paris, the dance council, referred to as CID, has been promoting dance each year, with specific messages and themes to promote the good values of dance on the said date in various countries.
This year, Creative Arts in Motion (CAiM), organisers of Ghana Dance Festival, leads the nation to the celebrate International Dance Day in Ghana (iDDiG) under the theme, “Give Azonto a Voice.”
According to the CEO of CAiM, Mr Robert Klah, “Azonto dance is Ghana’s contribution to the world dance syllabus and as such Ghana needs to flaunt it as its own. Contrary to popular believe, Azonto is not just a dance move; it is the umbrella name for all street dance types we dance to Afrobeats, specifically AfroPop. In the past, most people felt comfortable dancing hip-hop dance to hip-hop music, but could not capture the excitement, pauses and expressions of our Afrobeats in their dance.
“With the advent of Azonto - a derivative of ‘Kpanlogo’, with the infusion of several other dance moves such as ‘Mezop’, ‘Awukye’, ‘Gbee Ohe’ and the like, Afrobeats music has taken on a whole new experience, as Azonto dance gives us the perfect avenue for dance expression. Azonto dance on Afrobeats has produced a visual delight, resulting in international recognition and acceptance. So on this first edition of the grand celebration of International Dance Day in Ghana (iDDiG), we do not only want to give Ghana a reason to dance, we also want to give a resounding voice to our Azonto dance, and also showcase the present Azonto moves.”
Interested participants only need to capture a 5sec to 60sec video of yourself dancing any of the Azonto moves, and on April 29, upload it onto any of the social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter – with the following hashtags- #iddig #azontodancefromghana #danceteratv.

Adorable Pictures Of Nadia Buari’s Twins Shows How They’ve Grown Now
The A-list actress has been able to keep
the father of her twins away from the media and also the faces of her
twins. Over the last few months, the actress would only share adorable
pictures of the hands or legs of her twins, but would NEVER show their
faces for reasons best known to her.
We were thinking, it would get to a point
where she would do that, but since’s it’s not happened yet, we assume
she’s doing so with the best of reasons.
The mother of Nadia Buari, Caddy Buari
has shared an adorable photo again of the twins all grown now and they
look really beautiful even tho we cannot see their face in the photo
below.
The twins wear a same, blue-black and white striped dress and sit on the floor, perhaps, taking their crawling lessons.
In A Fresh Interview, Here’s What Shatta Wale Had To Say About His Fake Adidas Wear
The dancehall king, Shatta Wale has in a
radio interview with Pluzz Fm, this morning spoken about his Fake Adidas
clothing, which went viral these past few days.
Many people expressed disgust as to why a
big celebrity like Shatta Wale would wear a fake Adidas clothing and
not get noticed by any of the people around him. Infact, lots of people
made mockery of the artiste and Social media was inundated with all
sorts of funny memes and videos about the whole “AdLdas” saga.

The “Baby Chop Kiss”hit maker disclosed
to Pluzz Fm, that he likes trouble and that all of that was truly
intentional and was targeted at creating a buzz.
“I like trouble. I have this
customer who sends me stuff. Hajia4Real is my stylist when I’m in
America because she is a woman and knows a lot about fashion.
“Julio was around and the guy
brought the things [Adidas Hoodie] and Julio saw it and he said I
shouldn’t wear it and I said this is where the money is.
“Nobody saw this, but I said, if
anyone can see this then that person is killer. So, I said I will wear
it. Julio said if I wore this it will be bad for him. But I still
insisted.
“I benefited from this. People watch the video now because they want to see the mistake. This is what we call show business.
He even mentioned that, he would wear
that hoodie again at his Album Launch which will be happening on the
29th April, 2016 at the Independence Square.
ASAP Ferg Rises to New Levels on ‘Always Strive and Prosper’
When A$AP Ferg named his 2013 debut album, Trap Lord, the title and the cover art were perfect descriptors of what the eventual project would be. Trap Lord established
what Ferg was all about. He was a trap rapper, talking about the drug
trade on the streets of his hometown Harlem. The sound of the album was
as dark as the black-and-white picture of Ferg
that stood out in the middle of the cover. The entire aesthetic of that
cover image was almost more heavy metal than hip-hop and matched with
the dark trap bangers that made the album.
So it’s no surprise that with Ferg’s sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper, the title gives a perfect glimpse of what listeners are to expect. Trap Lord excelled generally in that one zone of trap rap, but on this album, he strives to expand further out of that realm. The end result is the rapper creating more sonically diverse music and showcasing a much more personal side.
It’s a similar move to what the A$AP Mob’s de facto leader A$AP Rocky did. Rocky broke out with Live.Love.A$AP, which mostly served to introduce listeners to his style. On Rocky’s two follow-ups, Long.Live.A$AP and especially last year’s At.Long.Last.A$AP, he built upon that existing style he established on his debut and expanded it into new territories and showed more of himself.
That’s exactly what Ferg does on Always Strive and Prosper. There’s the base of what is expected to be heard from his releases because of his first album, but now that his music is familiar, he twists all perceptions of what he’s previously unleashed.
The first thing that listeners might notice is that the album is generally a little bit more accessible than Trap Lord. It’s not nearly as dark, especially when it comes to the production. Skrillex helps turn “Hungry Ham” into a club-ready banger. On “Strive,” Ferg and Missy Elliott rap on a straight-up bouncy track that’s night-and-day unlike what we’ve come to expect from the A$AP sound.
Another big difference is Ferg’s tendency to get more personal and political. On “Beautiful,” he strives to empower Black people. He recruits Public Enemy’s Chuck D to provide the introduction, where he says, “We got our ways, but ain’t we human beings too?/If our lives don’t matter, no lives matter/Thus life is in our future, dying is unacceptable/Living for what we believe in is life itself/And that in itself is beautiful, aight.” Ferg himself says, “I wanna empower people, wanna empower people/White, purple and yellow, and all of my browner people/We can be positive, don’t let negativity kill you.” These are powerful messages from the man previously most famous for tracks like “Shabba” and “Work.”
The most emotional point of Always Strive and Prosper comes at the tail end of the record, on the track “Grandma.” It’s a touching tribute to Ferg’s late grandmother, as he wishes she was still around to see him and his friends rise to success, but at the same time is happy that she no longer has to suffer through all the pain she went through on this earth. It’s a softer side of Ferg that he didn’t present much on Trap Lord.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Ferg album if we didn’t get any of those more traditional trap bangers and he delivers those as well. “Let It Bang” is a tribute to selling crack on the streets and features a spazzed-out Schoolboy Q and production from one of trap’s innovators, Lex Luger. “New Level” has Ferg and Future bragging about how they’ve hustled to a new level of prosperity that they had never seen in their lives before. “Uzi Gang” is a union between the A$AP Mob and rising street rapper Lil Uzi Vert, who meshes extremely well with the A$AP crew.
A$AP Ferg is on a new level of ambition on Always Strive and Prosper. That title is the rapper’s motto for the project and he accomplishes both. Not only does he strive to become a better, more diverse artist, he definitely prospers in more ways than one as he continues to make a name for himself as one of New York’s biggest talents.

Lil Wayne Gets "Respeck" From Rick Ross, Trick Daddy At Beyonce Miami Concert
Miami, Flordia - No one actually knows if Birdman would run up on Rick Ross and Trick Daddy as Charlamagne Tha God suggested. But if a photo from last night is any indication, Lil Wayne is on good terms with his fellow southern rap heavyweights.
On Wednesday night, Ross posted a photo on Instagram with himself, Mack Maine, Lil Wayne (complete with the middle finger) and Trick Daddy standing side by side. The photo was taken at Marlins Park in Miami, which kicked off her Beyonce's nationwide Formation World Tour. He also posted a photo with just him and Trick Daddy.
When Birdman chastised The Breakfast Club hosts for not putting “respek” on his name, Charlamagne responded by asking if he confronted Rick Ross and Trick Daddy the same way. Trick Daddy questioned Birdman’s dedication to business in light of other focuses, said he claimed allegiances to rival gangs, Ross used the radio show to voice their support for Lil Wayne during his $51 million lawsuit against Birdman.
“Just seeing what Wayne’s going through as an artist...that’s something I took personal,” Birdman said in his last Breakfast Club interview. “I can’t respect that, and I won’t respect that.”
“I’ve done business with Birdman. Some was good, some was bad. I just think when you try and be a CEO, when you try to be a rapper, and you try and be a ladies man, and you trying to be a girlfriend, and you trying to be a crip and a blood,” Trick Daddy said on Breakfast Club in 2015. “...You ever saw a Cash Money office? You ever saw a picture? There ain’t one.”
As a response to Birdman’s tumultuous visit last week, Ross sent Charlamagne bottles of Belaire Rose. Trick Daddy also responded to last week’s tantrum during a show in Dallas, bringing up the interview and playing his hit “Nann” afterward.
Birdman, meanwhile, has allegedly apologized to the Breakfast Club hosts and announced the impending release of a Lost At Sea mixtape with Cash Money signee Jacques.

Although Drake didn't share a specific release date for Views From The 6, the Toronto singer/rapper did announce that his much-anticipated project will in fact be released in April.
Yesterday (March 15), Drake uploaded a picture of a Views From The 6 billboard, and added the follow caption: "APRIL"
This week's announcement comes months after Drake rapped about possibly dropping Views From The 6 in January, on his “30 for 30 Freestyle.”
“But just know it’ll be January in no time,” Drake rapped on "30 For 30 Freestyle," which was released last November.
Although an updated released date for Views From The 6 was just released, details on the album have continuously been offered thanks to those who have lent their assistance on the project or have ties to Drake.
Earlier this month, ILOVEMAKONNEN spoke with Montreality about what he's heard so far from Views From The 6.
"I don't even know 'cause I hear so many songs and then they'll be like, 'It's going on there,'" ILOVEMAKONNEN said, during the interview. "And then it's like shit came out four months ago or something, so it's like, 'Oh.' It's gonna be definitely a good album, though. I'm nervous."

Will Smith Talked To Prince The Night Before He Died
Will Smith posted a tribute to Prince on his Facebook page yesterday (April 21).
"I am stunned and heartbroken,” the rapper-actor writes of Prince, who passed away yesterday. He was 57.
"I just spoke with him last night,” Smith
continues. "Today, Jada & I mourn with all of you the loss of a
beautiful poet, a true inspiration, and one of the most magnificent
artists to ever grace this earth."
In addition to Will Smith, Frank Ocean wrote about Prince's influence on him yesterday.
Several other members of the Hip Hop community have commented on Prince's death.
"I can't fucking breathe right now,” Questlove wrote
on Twitter yesterday. Questlove has worked on material with The Roots,
Erykah Badu, D’Angelo and Common, among others, as a member of the
Soulquarians production collective. The outfit would often draw from and
use Prince’s songs as inspiration.
All Eyez On Memes: The Internet Doesn't Respect Birdman's Breakfast Club Appearance
Birdman marched out his Breakfast Club cameo
earlier today (April 22) feeling like a G, evidenced from his demeanor
as he completely cut off the question portion of the interview in a
record-setting two minutes for the show's history.
The Cash Money boss clearly arrived with a temper, causing himself to gurgle his words, pronouncing respect as "respeck" and forgetting to state the nature of his beef to begin with.
Social media users had a field day and it appears Birdman is going to have to eat this L.

Birdman Curses Out The Breakfast Club & Refuses Interview
New York City, New York - Like several
artists before him, Birdman arrived to his Breakfast Club interview
with a chip on his shoulder regarding how the top-rated radio show
portrayed his image.
However, the well-known music mogul did himself no favors in the eyes of his detractors by cursing out Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy and then refusing to take his gripes on air.
"I want to start this shit off straight up, stop playing with my name," the visibly PO'ed Cash Money Records boss told the Breakfast Club crew, repeatedly ignoring the request to address his issues when the cameras starting rolling. "Nigga, when my name come up, respect it. Stop playing with my fucking name."
Although Birdman never explicitly stated what the nature of his issues were, Charlamagne tells us it was most likely last year's Rick Ross and Trick Daddy interviews where "his name" was the butt end of several jokes and topics, which resulted in him festering to the point where he couldn't conduct himself accordingly. By the time the interview had officially started, the 47-year-old mogul was stuttering with a shaky voice as he prepared his words.
"I wanted to see yo," Birdman said to Charlamagne adding, "I wanted to talk to ya a man in yo face ya understand me? I knew a few places you were at but [I didn't] think that was gangsta. I wanted to look you in your face like a man and tell you how I feel."
When the question was poised how come he didn't "pull up" on Rozay and Trick Daddy Dollars in a similar matter, Birdman hit back with the swift rebuttal: "I'm pulling up on you, nigga."
And then, it was over. Birdman donned his sunglasses, assembled his entourage and stormed towards the exit door.
A nonchalant Charlamagne quipped "Grand opening, grand closing" while Angela Yee looked over her wasted research in disbelief. There were several key topics on the table to discuss (most notably Lil Wayne's future with Cash Money) but it appears those will be answered at another place and time.

Tupac's Stepfather, Mutulu Shakur Denied Parole
Mutulu Shakur will have to wait two more years to be freed from prison after his request for parole was denied. According to ABC News,
Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr did not cite a reason for the
decision, saying further information is "not publicly releasable."
Shakur, who is Tupac's stepfather, has served 30 years of his 60-year sentence and will be eligible for parole again in two years.
The 65-year-old is incarcerated at California's Victorville Penitentiary for plotting the 1981 robbery of a Brinks armored car. Two police officers and a security guard were killed in the incident.
Reports surfaced in February that the social activist was released from prison. Shakur and his son, Mopreme, explained he is still navigating the judicial system.
Shakur is "supposed to be out, but he's not out yet," according to his son. "[We are] dealing with that shit now."
(This article was first published April 3, 2016 and is as follows.)
Tupac's stepfather, Mutulu Shakur, may be a free man this week after serving 30 years of his 60-year prison sentence "for masterminding a string of deadly armed robberies in New York and Connecticut committed by a militant political group known as 'The Family,'" the Associated Press reports.
Shakur's parole hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 4.
His original release date was scheduled for February 10, yet the 65-year old remains an prisoner at the high risk U.S. penitentiary in Victorville, California.
The Baltimore, Maryland native made the FBI's Most Wanted list after the $1.6 million caper of an armored truck at a Rockland County, New York mall was executed in 1981.
The heist resulted in the killing of a Brinks security guard and two Nyack, New York police officers.
In 1986, he was found in Los Angeles after being on the run for half a decade. He was indicted for racketeering and sentenced to 60 years in prison.
He was also charged with helping Joanne Chesimard, now known as Assata Shakur, escape from a New Jersey prison in 1979, where she was serving a life sentence for the murder of New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster six years prior. She now lives in Cuba under political asylum.
Mutulu maintains his innocence and has been labeled as a political prisoner to some.
His lawyer argued in court during his 1987 trial that there was no proof that Mutulu was involved with the Brinks caper nor is there proof that he aided Assata in escaping prison.
A #MutuluIsWelcomeHere campaign was started in February in support and preparation of his release.
"There are enemies of our struggle who are intent on proving that Dr. Mutulu Shakur is a threat and danger to the community and society and does not deserve to be let free to come home," the website says. "It is important that we challenge that narrative with true stories of personal experiences with Dr. Mutulu Shakur and how we have benefited from knowing him. We are asking that you take the time to describe the impact he has had on your life."

10 Times T.I.’s Good Deeds Didn’t Go Unnoticed
When it comes to the South, it’s impossible to argue that T.I. doesn’t wear the crown. From the release of his 2009 major-label debut, I’m Serious, T.I.P. has experienced unprecedented career highs amidst personal setbacks and lows.
Arguably one of the godfathers of the Trap movement, he’s released nine studio album over the past 15 years, seven of them cracking the top five on the Billboard charts. His immense status and success have him often associated with the elite upper echelon of hip-hop, alongside peers Jay Z, Kanye and Jeezy.
He’s transcended beyond just music, too. T.I. is a successful author, actor and reality television star who’s found success with his VH1 show starring his wife, Tiny, and children. As well, he’s a notable business person with numerous endorsement deals, a nightclub and a side gig as the Global Creative Consultant of Rémy Martin Cognac in his portfolio. Unfortunately, all this success hasn’t come without a few setbacks. He’s served two terms in county jail for probation violations and a federal prison bid for a U.S. federal weapons charge. It’s how’s he’s spun his bad decisions, though, that’s been so inspiring.
In recent years, he’s become increasingly philanthropic, using his name, celebrity and K.I.N.G. Foundation to help make a difference in the community that raised him. He’s also quite literally saved lives — three to be exact.
In case you’ve missed them, we’ve compiled a list of 10 ways that the Rubberband Man has made a positive difference over the past five years, adding a ton of stacks into his karma bank.
Rescues Scott Stapp From Suicide Attempt
Scott Stapp is no stranger to the limelight. He’s the incredible lead singer of the platinum-selling band Creed. A philanthropist, his With Arms Wide Open Foundation has donated over a million dollars to help children worldwide, and him and his wife worked heavily to promote fundraising for victims of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Unfortunately, though, he’s also fought drug issues, battled thoughts of suicide and attempted to kill himself back in 2012. As Stapp tells it, after a Miami drug binge, he leaped 40 feet from his penthouse and landed on another room’s balcony, breaking his hip and fracturing his skull. Two-and-a-half hours later, T.I. — literally off the street without planning — walked into the hotel and took the only room left. He walked in, saw Scott and immediately took control of the situation, saving his life. The two had met once before while writing music for the Passion of the Christ soundtrack. God works in mysterious ways.
2. Talks Man Down From Building in Atlanta
The Scott Stapp incident was far from the only time T.I. was able to save a life. While en-route to a video shoot, T.I. heard on the radio that 24-year-old Joshua Starks was threatening to jump from the 400 Colony Square building in Atlanta. T.I. promptly called his friend Ryan Cameron, an on-air personality at Atlanta’s V-103 — which happens to be in the building the man was on. After giving T.I.P. the details of the situation at hand, he convinced the rapper to show up to try persuade the man off the ledge. He arrived short time later and recorded a heartfelt video message, which Atlanta PD officers showed the man. “Nothing is that bad … you can make it through anything,” pleaded T.I., urging the man to come down and chat with him. The man, after seeing the video, came down off the ledge and met with T.I. in the lobby before being taking to nearby hospital. T.I. pledged to remain in contact with the young man.
3. Pays for Christmas Shopper’s Presents at Wal-Mart
Christmas is a wonderful and terrible time of year — depending on your perspective and socioeconomic situation. For many, it’s a stark reminder of their financial woes, as they desperately try to get everything on their family’s wish list. T.I., a father himself, definitely has never forgotten where he came from and isn’t afraid to show it. Over the holiday season, he made a Christmas Eve visit to two Atlanta area Wal-Marts and surprised shoppers by paying for all of their last-minute holiday purchases. Talk about holiday cheer.
4. Helps 14 Families Visit His Former Fellow Inmates
T.I.’s legal woes have been anything but a secret over the past decade. Needless to say, he’s undoubtedly made friends in the system and understands firsthand the impact that incarceration can have on not only the prisoners, but their families, especially as they have to celebrate holidays and milestones without fathers, sons and husbands. Good guy T.I. paid and made all the necessary arrangements, to have the families/friends of 14 of his fellow Forrest City Correctional Facility inmates to visit them over the 2011 Memorial Weekend. “There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven’t been able to see their loved ones in years. Their families can’t afford the trip, so I wanted to help out,” said T.I.
5. Launches Campaign to Help Homeless Veterans
According to research, there are approximately 300,000 vets in the U.S. who are faced with the challenges of (potentially) becoming homeless daily. T.I. and his wife Tiny decided to shine the spotlight directly on the issue in 2012, through their K.I.N.G. Foundation with the launch the “Give Like A King” campaign, in partnership with the Georgia-based Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO). VEO provides local vets with housing, meals, health care, substance abuse aftercare, mental health counseling and job training/placement assistance. His aim was to inspire people worldwide to give back, and get involved in their local communities; “We have to have someone else’s back…not just our own.”
6. Gives Free Concert to Thousands in Memphis
As part of the taping for the season finale of his VH1 reality show, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle, in 2012, T.I. gave a free concert for thousands of Memphis locals to encourage donations of food to the local Mid-Soth Food Bank. He also urged toys to be donated as part of a separate drive organized by local establishments and the city of Memphis. “Me being one of those kids that didn’t have anybody to give back to them, kind of you know. It made me want to give back more,” T.I. told local media. His leadership, and giving spirit was recognized by the mayor during the event, who presented him a key to the city. Good karma never hurts.
7. Fundraising Earns Him Key to the City of Jacksonville
In September of 2014, T.I. was given the key to the city of Jackson, Miss., as a cumulative response to his community service in the city over the year, but primarily for his over and above fundraising efforts following the Hurricane Katrina disaster. As he accepted the honor, he told onlookers, “Just knowing that I can use my past — good and bad — to help assist the future, the children, the teenagers, the young adults, and the grown people who may have to go through the same thing. Just because I fell in something, it doesn’t mean I have to stay down in it.” While in town, he also stopped at a few local schools to talk to the children.
8. Surprises Students at Dallas High School
Part of T.I. putting his troubled past behind him is using his fame and influence to mentor at-risk youth, helping them to steer them clear of the path he went down, avoiding his mistakes. T.I. spent a chunk of the latter half of 2015 touring the nation, and speaking to youth about the dangers of both drugs and gangs. “The things you have and the things you don’t have, are a direct reflection of what you were able to learn in school,” T.I. told the students at Dallas ISD’ Madison Highschool during a surprise visit, which was captured by media.
Donates Toys and Turkeys in His Community
It’s all about giving back to the communities that help support and embrace you. Depending on the season, T.I. can be found handing out toys at, both on his own though his K.I.N.G. Foundation and/or in conjunction with other rap superstars, and Charities such as 2 Chainz’s T.R.U. Foundation. He’s also been known to hand out turkeys to deserving families in his hometown during Thanksgiving.
Rescues Car Crash Victim
On a routine drive to an Inglewood Popeye’s back in 2014, T.I. once again found himself in a position to possibly save a life. He witnessed a horrendous car wreck, as he waited for the light to change; a taxi cab slammed into an SUV making it roll onto its side. He calmly walked to the wreckage and stayed with the injured woman driver — keeping her spirits up until the ambulance came. Afterward, with the hunger still being real, he continued on his way to Popeye’s; albeit, he opted to hit up a different location.

Known as the “Ninth Wonder of the
World,” Chyna broke down barriers in the world of sports entertainment
as she became the only woman wrestler to hold both the Intercontinental
Championship and Women’s Championship belts at the same time. Her role
in the original D-Generation X crew helped cement her status as a
professional wrestling icon and pioneer.
“It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero,” read her official Twitter account. “She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her.”
The hip-hop world is full of diehard
professional wrestling fans and upon hearing the news, artists, DJs and

drugs on site. In 2008, the wrestler appeared on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab.
Following her stint with the WWE,
Chyna appeared on the independent wrestling circuit and also

pornographic films between 2004-2013. In recent years, she ventured to
Japan to teach English.
She was 46.
20 Rap Songs That Sample Prince
The music world is reeling from the loss of one of its greatest superstars. Prince’s death was reported today (April 21) by TMZ before later being confirmed by his publicist via the Associated Press.
It’s a shock not only to music lovers, but hip-hop heads too, many of whom were surely hipped to his music by way of rappers and producers sampling him in rap songs. Ever since hip-hop took off in the ’80s, Prince has been heavily sampled by everyone from Nice N Smooth to LL Cool J to 2pac, Hov, Wayne and others.
His music made him a star and his style made him an icon. He was unabashedly brave about showing off his body, even wearing pants with the butt cut out to show the world his ass at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards. He showed the world that men could show off a feminine side while still being sex symbols, and to this day that influence resonates not just through hip-hop, but all of music.
And let’s admit it – Prince’s attitude was all the way hip-hop. He gave no fucks what you thought about his approach. He was unapologetic, unafraid, unrelenting in his innovation. Hip-hop will miss him dearly.
But in the immediate aftermath of his death, we can only hope to take solace in the work he left us. His catalog will live on forever and his imprint on the music world will never fade. While we all mourn Prince’s death, here’s a look at 20 rap songs that sampled his work.

M.I.A. Calls Out Kendrick Lamar For Not Saying Muslim Lives Matter
M.I.A. is no stranger to controversy, having thrown up the middle
finger during her performance at the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI halftime show
and pissing off the Paris Saint-Germain football club by using one of
their kits to make a political statement.
Her latest venture into the headlines involves an interview with the United Kingdom’s Evening Standard where she spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement and how American pop stars treat the sensitive subject. The artist, who is of Sri Lankan descent, asked whether stars like Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar will take a stand for Middle Eastern people who are being persecuted in America and around the world.
‘It’s interesting that in America the problem you’re allowed to talk about is Black Lives Matter. It’s not a new thing to me — it’s what Lauryn Hill was saying in the 1990s, or Public Enemy in the 1980s,” she said. “Is Beyoncé or Kendrick Lamar going to say Muslim Lives Matter? Or Syrian Lives Matter? Or this kid in Pakistan matters? That’s a more interesting question. And you cannot ask it on a song that’s on Apple, you cannot ask it on an American TV program, you cannot create that tag on Twitter, Michelle Obama is not going to hump you back.’
M.I.A hopped on Twitter this morning (April 21) to clarify her statement. “A) #BlackLivesMatter B) #MuslimLivesMatter. I’m not muslim. My crticism wasn’t about Beyonce. It’s how you can say A not B right now in 2016,” she wrote. “My question was, on American platforms what do they allow you to stand up for in 2016? This has been the number one question for me.”
Later on in the interview, the “Paper Planes” artist was asked what advice she would give herself if she were starting her career again and reflected on something Kanye West told her ten years ago.
“He said: ‘Whatever you do, don’t date people, don’t get pregnant, don’t fall in love. Love is like cancer.’ At the time, I thought he was so wrong. I said: ‘It’s terrible you think like that!’ But now I think he was right.’

Kodak Black Has Been Arrested
Kodak Black has
apparently been arrested earlier today. You can see footage above of
what looks like the Florida rapper being led into a police car while
onlookers yell his nickname Project Baby.
18-year-old Kodak has been in and out of juvenile a couple times in his life, and in the past he’s never been shy about posting his capers on social media. XXL caught up with lil’ Kodak for our recent Spring issue to talk about what he’s got planned for the future, including a new mixtape this June, perhaps Project Baby 2.
His music is a unique blend of soul and grit as he often talks about friends turning on him, girls breaking his heart, and police cracking down on him. Last year’s Institution, while not housing highlights from previous tapes as big “Maneuvering” or “SKRT,” was easily one of the most consistent projects of 2015. He’s even been written about by The New Yorker as one of the pivotal young artists in pop music right now.
Recently, Kodak made headlines by proclaiming that he was better than ‘Pac and Biggie. While he might not quite be at that level yet, some praised the youngen’s brazen confidence, citing it as a necessary attribute for any young artist coming up in the game.
He’s also got a rumored record deal on the table, though details still need to be worked out.
For now, keep it locked right here at XXL, as we’ll be updating this article with more details when we learn ’em. We’re hoping he gets out soon.

Kanye West Claims Mentioning Wiz Khalifa’s Son During Beef Was A Joke
Kanye West says that he was joking when he mentioned Wiz Khalifa's son during his beef with the rapper earlier this year.
In a clip from Kocktails with Khloe, West says that a woman asked him about the spat, which started in January after Wiz Khalifa said West's then-titled WAVES album title was biting Max B. The subsequent back-and-forth included West writing to Wiz on twitter that, "You wouldn’t have a child if it wasn’t for me. 13th You own waves???? I own your child!!!!”
Wiz Khalifa has a son with his estranged wife, Amber Rose, whom West used to date.
"I was just thinkin' like, I did not feel like thinking about that today,” Kanye West says in the Kocktails with Khloe clip. "I was joking. It was like a really funny joke to me.”
In February, Wiz Khalifa said that he and West had spoken and that “everything’s cool” between the pair.
Reebok’s Director of Entertainment Marketing Explains Kendrick Lamar Deal
Kendrick Lamar’s collaboration with Reebok didn’t happen overnight.
"I basically chased [Kendrick] for about
two years,” Damion Presson, Reebok’s Director of Entertainment
Marketing, says during an interview with Complex.
"It took about two years to get them to call me back. I was constantly
calling, calling, and calling, and finally we met out in Vegas and had a
great meeting. They were ready to do a partnership, and then we
actually made it happen.”
The Compton, California rapper’s 2015 Ventilator collaboration and this year’s Reebok Classic Leather line with the shoe company say
"Blue" and "Red" and have blue and red insoles. The inside of each
tongue has the word "Neutral" on it as a nod to the Crips and Blood
gangs in Los Angeles.
Presson says that meeting with the TDE rapper and getting his ideas for a shoe was paramount.
"His music has a message, and we wanted
to make sure we were taking into consideration the things that were
important to him,” Presson says. "That pretty was much it, sitting down
with some designers, hearing things he wanted to do, picking out
materials, letting him go through the whole material swatch book. As far
as the shoe goes, the Ventilator was a shoe that he loved, and it was
one of the shoes we were promoting for our campaign.”
The gang-related message behind the shoes separates Kendrick Lamar’s shoes from those of other musicians, Presson says.
“It was more than just Reebok putting out
a shoe with another artist,” he says. "These shoes are speaking to the
youth in a different way, as opposed to how the other artists are
putting out footwear. No knock to the other artists putting out
footwear, but I think that [Kendrick] has a message behind his shoes. I
think it’s a bigger message to what Kendrick is trying to do in terms of
just changing the culture and having people think. You get the shoes
and there’s a message. You kind of look at the shoes and you see unity
on the shoes. You see red and blue, but it goes bigger than just red and
blue. This is about unity of everything that’s going on with the
world—that we all are one. It’s not a Black thing or a White thing or an
Asian thing. It’s a humanity thing.”
1 Dead, 4 Injured After Chicago Rap Video Shooting
Chicago, IL - A close relative
of Damond Dawson warned the 23-year-old aspiring rapper of hanging out
at the wrong areas. Especially when the sun went down.
Now, he's deceased and investigators are searching for his killer.
Shots rang out in the early morning hours of yesterday, April 19 in Chicago's Foster Park at 1440 W. 84th St., located within the Gresham neighborhood, where Dawson was shot in the back in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Four others including a female teenager who was shot in the groin and another man who took nine shots to the leg and shoulder were also admitted to Advocate Christ Medical Center. They all were listed in stable condition.
All of the injured males were related to Dawson, as they are his brother and second cousins.
"He was trying to rap; that's what he was trying to do," Dawson's aunt, Angela Mathis-Tate tearfully told the Chicago-Tribune. "He might be on some YouTube things that they have on their iPhone's...Thugga, that's what we call him."
She also assured he was "a good kid" and wasn't involved in gangbanging, despite dropping out of high school in the eleventh grade.
Dawson and his rap group were filming their video to their independent record "Two Techs and a 50 Shot," when the shooting ironically occurred. While the victims refused to speak with the media, rapper "Foreign Lyfe," who was on the scene, gave his point of view on the deadly incident.
"I heard my homie say that he had seen somebody pulling up or whatever. We turned around and look back again, quick as we looked back, started shooting," he recalled to ABC7 Chicago. Shots coming from everywhere..."
Chicago police currently have no one in custody and are also investigating eight other shootings that occurred the West and South sides that evening to mid-morning.
“It’s always drama up there. Nothing but drama … I told my nephew, please don’t be going up to that park,” Mathis-Tate continued. “They say, ‘We’re not, we’re not,’ and that’s what they always tell us. The area is particularly dangerous for young men."

DJ Khaled Discusses Role On Beyonce's "Formation" Tour
New York, NY - DJ Khaled posted and then removed yesterday (April 19) his video announcement that he’d be joining Beyonce on her “Formation” tour.
During an interview with Angie Martinez today (April 20), the Miami deejay says he hasn’t spoken to Beyonce about the jaunt.
“I haven’t talked to her since they gave me the news that I’m on [the 'Formation' tour], but I’ve been blessed to be around Jay Z
and Lenny [Santiago] and see her presence,” DJ Khaled says. "When I see
her, I praise her and I just run. I’m focused. I don’t plan on saying
nothing wrong, but the key is to focus on not do too much. It’s just
focus.”
DJ Khaled is also focused on his next album, Major Key. He says there’s something distinctive about the project.
“I drive to be great every single time,
but I want y’all to imagine all this energy that’s going on that’s
special, the good vibes,” he says. "This energy is coming in the music
too. I got everybody on it but I can tell you this: I got the ones they
can’t get, too. I got the verses that they can’t get and they barely do
it for themselves.”
Something DJ Khaled had to do for himself was meet President Obama. He and several other rap luminaries went to the White House last week.
"When I got the call, I was like, ‘They
gonna let me in?’ I don’t know how this works,” he says. "So, I got the
call and we canceled whatever was on the schedule that day. It had to
go. That’s President Obama and not just that, that’s somebody I really
like and look up to and I voted for. And that’s the Prez.”
Ghana Has The Best Marijuana In The Whole World - Blakk Rasta
Reggae musician, Blakk Rasta has observed that Ghana will have huge economic benefits should it legalise marijuana.
According to him, Ghana has the best marijuana and considering the kind of things it is used for apart from just smoking it, it is advisable that it be legalised in the country.
“I love wee so much and it is what is going to help this country grow. I have never smoked wee but I have used it several times. Wee is something which can help us economically. Cocoa has disappointed us, gold has disappointed us small so let’s legalise it. Kofi Annan of all people has called for its legalisation,” he said on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on Saturday.
“Ghana has the best marijuana in the whole world. I have read about it. If I smell it, I can tell if it is a proper marijuana,” he added.
The debate as to whether the country should legalise marijuana or not has been has been raging for some time.
Bukom Banku Rides On Kdei's 'Brother Brother' For Mahama's Campaign
Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has released a remix of Bisa Kdei’s hit song ‘brother brother’ and is urging President John Mahama to adopt it as his campaign song.
Using the 'brother brother' rythm Bukum Banku sings about what he considers to be President Mahama's achievements in the past three years, with particular emphasis on good roads and how he has solved the electricity crisis in the country.
The boxer-turned-actor in an exclusive interview with TV3 said that he wants President Mahama and his ruling National Democratic Congress to make the song their 2016 campaign theme song.
“This music is a hit. This is a campaign number I want to give to John Dramani Mahama because he is my father and I want to tell him to use this music for the election," Bukom Banku told TV3's Owusu Worae.
When asked whether he sought permission from Bisa Kdei to use brother brother rhythm, Bukom Banku answered in the negative, but said said he believes the Mansa hitmaker would not have a problem with it.
“Bisa Kdei is my best friend so if he hears that I used his beat to do something he wouldn’t worry. We are all popular men as Bisa is popular and I am a big popular and everybody knows so he wouldn’t worry about me using his beat," he said.
